Enter our video competition!
Introduction
Entering the competition is completely free. Anyone who lives in the UK and is aged under 18 can enter.
The competition runs from Friday 20th March 2009 to Thursday 30th April 2009. Winners will be contacted by email or phone, and announced on the home page of our website, at the beginning of May 2009.
The competition will be judged by a small panel of young CAU campaigners.
The prize? We’ll put the winning video on the front page of our website, show it at the top of our YouTube channel, and give you the chance to tell us a bit about making it. In addition, the winner will get some goodies and £20 of high-street vouchers.
All the entries will be displayed on our YouTube channel, and we might use them for publicity in the future. By entering, you’ll be having your say, helping tell others about CAU’s campaigning, and having a great time!

How to enter
1. Make your video.
It has to tell us your answer to the question...
Why do you think it should be illegal to hit children?
If you need ideas or information on our campaign, check out our information pages.
Your video could be funny, quirky, serious or sad. It could be an animation or just a video of you talking. Do a rap, or a dance. Do a drama. Do it with friends, or do it by yourself. Make it complicated, or simply speak about what you think. But make sure you stick to the question!
Your video can be up to 3 minutes long. But shorter videos are very welcome too!
The video has to be your own original work.
Keep it clean – no swearing please! If we think your video isn’t suitable, for any reason, we won’t be able to show it on our website or allow it to be in the competition.
You can make a video using a webcam, most digital cameras, or even your phone. Check out Youtube’s help pages for advice on how to make videos.
2. Sign into YouTube.
If you don’t have a YouTube account, you’ll need to create one. You can do this here - it only takes a minute.
If you have trouble with this, we might be able to accept your video by email – but please ask us first, at elinor@childrenareunbeatable.org.uk, 07504 738 741.
3. Upload your video.
Go to our Youtube channel [link] and click on ‘Post a video response’.
Upload your video. (For help uploading, see YouTube’s help pages).
Please note: we have to approve all competition entries before they show up. This might sometimes take a couple of days. So don’t worry if your video doesn’t show up straight away!
4. Fill in the competition entry form.
It’s really important that you fill this all in, including your contact details (so we can tell you if you win) and the URL of your video (otherwise we won’t know which one is yours!)
You can find the URL of your video when you play it, on the right hand side of the page. It should look something like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G09idab3lq0
5. Congratulations!
You’ve entered. Now sit back and wait for us to give out the results, at the beginning of May 2009.
